Michael Pooler, LMT The monthly meeting of the Eugene Area LMT Support Group is held on the fourth Monday of each month at the Market Of Choice on 28th and Willamette from 7-9 pm. The Eugene area meeting is held in the Community room above the Market of Choice on 29th & Willamette, from 7-9 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month. All massage therapists are welcome. Two CEs are available. They are free to OMTA members, and cost just $10 for non-members. Bring your business cards, flyers and brochures to exchange with other LMTs. Jeffrey Burch, LMT, was the guest speaker on August 24, 2009, with 39 attendees. His topic was Visceral Manipulation. Following his talk, Kathy Calise of the OBMT told us about Governor Kulongoski's plan to suspend our licensing board, and what that will mean to us. On September 28, Jeanne Edwards spoke about her Counseling Skills for Bodyworkers workshop to 26 LMTs. On October 26, Kassy Dagget spoke about Self Care for LMTs to 24 LMTs. In November, Marcia York introduced Hawaiian healing philosophy and lomilomi. In December, Patty Glenn, Executive Director of the OBMT, talked about the Governor's proposal to suspend the massage board. Walter Libby spoke in January 2010 about Trigger Points to 30 LMTs. Becky Smith followed in February, speaking to 29 LMTs about Jin Shin Do acupressure. In March, Carol Duncan talked about European Sports Stretching. In April, Robert Bike introduced Emotional Freedom Techniques and Donovon Monroe talked about Repetitive Strain Injuries - Upper Extremities. AREA REPRESENTATIVE, HILLSBORO Neva Winter, LMT Hillsboro Area LMT Support Group The Oregon Massage Therapists Association (OMTA) invites you to our monthly support group. August 23: Lazette Harnish, LMT #11063: Intro to Thai for the Table. This is a basic introduction to Thai massage for the table. Lazette will help us learn and enjoy how yoga, posturing, acupressure and massage can be beneficial to both client and massage therapist.
Sept. 20: Neva Winter, LMT #14997: Its Table Talk time! Bring your tired and sore muscles along with your questions and ideas to attend two full hours of receiving and giving. This month we will be reviewing and sharing techniques for the lower body. Both of these classes will be hands on work. Please RSVP. We will need massage tables so if you have one, please bring it! Monroe , LMT Donovan's introductory meeting was held January 11 at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM). Joni Kutner spoke about Communicable diseases, Heather Bennouri spoke about the OBMT status, and Robert Bike spoke about the benefits of a local professional association, and he also gave an introduction to Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).
