The OMTA Annual Conference is held the first weekend of October at Breitenbush Hot Springs. The 2009 Annual Conference will be held on October 2-4. Mark your calendar for another fun, educational experience. Registration for OMTA members begins June 1. Registration for non-members begins July 1. A downloadable, printable registration form will be available here..

The Executive Committee meets in January to select classes and instructors. If you are interested in teaching a class next year, contact the President.

Brochures are sent in July and August to every Oregon-Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Oregon and in the southern region of Washington State, and all OMTA members everywhere. Refer to the brochure for class descriptions, prices, enrollment details, and cancellation policy.

Our popular silent auction allows you to get super products and services at a nominal cost. Or buy a raffle ticket and take your choice of select items. If you have an item or service you would like to donate, contact our Volunteer Coordinator.

Bring an instrument or your voice! Plan to have fun Saturday night! Be creative! Have fun!

We need 45 massage tables for use in the workshops. OMTA will pay you $10 at conference for each table in good condition that you sign up to bring and arrives on Friday between 4-6 p.m. If you can bring your portable table, let the Registrar know. We will provide transportation for your table from the Breitenbush parking lot to the workshop site, and back to the parking lot after the conference. You must pre-register your table to get the raffle tickets.

Workshops are for LMTs, health practitioners or verified massage students only. Attendance is limited because of room size.

Note: It is each registrant's responsibility to have liability insurance, as OMTA's insurance policy does not cover individual conference participants.

A detailed confirmation letter will be mailed to you when your registration is processed.

Interested in teaching at OMTA's Annual Conference? Fill out our Conference Instructor Proposal form.

Breitenbush Information

There are NO public phones available on the property. The nearest public phone is in Detroit, twenty minutes away from Breitenbush. No cell phones get reception at Breitenbush.

Cabins have no locks or safes, so please leave your valuables at home or keep them on your person.

Swimsuits are optional at all times in bathing areas only, but required for Watsu classes.

Smoking is only permitted in designated outside areas.

TO BRING:

  • Massage table (if agreed). Make sure to mark your name on all parts and carrying cases.
  • For classes, bring linens and oil or lotion.
  • Towels (2 bath and a hand towel, good for drying off after soaking or showers)
  • Terry robe (great for hot tubs)
  • Swimsuit (optional for bathing areas, but required for Watsu classes)
  • Flip flops for getting in and out of pools (There's gravel & mud around the pools.)
  • Top sheet, bedding and pillow (Breitenbush only supplies the mattress & frame. It's best to bring a couple of blankets to adjust for temperature changes rather than one heavy sleeping bag as temperature in cabins varies depending on roommates.)
  • Flashlight/headlamp (check batteries)
  • Alarm clock
  • Umbrella and rainwear, mountain footwear and warm clothes (This is October in the mountains and classrooms can be very warm, so it is better to dress in removable layers).
  • Breitenbush is vegetarian. If you bring any meat products you cannot eat them in the dining hall. You need to use your own utensils and take all containers home with you. Some participants prefer to bring jerky.
  • Non-cook snacks—keep all snacks in sturdy containers that are squirrel-proof. Squirrels do visit cabins and chew into cloth/nylon/Zip lock bags used for food. Sturdy plastic coolers are best.
  • Instant coffee, hot chocolate, or tea if you crave caffeine. The dining hall has hot water available.
  • Plastic water bottle for hot tub and classes
  • Personal toiletries—ONLY biodegradable products, including shampoos and soaps.
  • Notebook/pen for workshops
  • Money for store and Silent Auction/Raffle. Breitenbush has a store that you may wish to visit.
  • Items to donate to the Auction/Raffle

    Do NOT Bring:

  • Pets (even in vehicles)
  • Drugs, alcohol
  • Candles, incense
  • Camp stoves
  • Electric appliances with heating elements (i.e., hair dryers, curling irons, coffee pots, etc.)
  • Glass containers

    Directions:
Using a map, find Detroit, Oregon. It is located on Oregon Route 22, southeast of Salem, northwest of Bend. From Detroit, go 10 miles north on Highway 46 following the signs to Breitenbush Hot Springs. Go past Cleator Bend Campground and take the first right, crossing the bridge. Take every left fork after crossing the bridge to the Breitenbush parking lot. The road turns to gravel after the bridge, and is notoriously rough and washboardy.

We look forward to seeing you at our next Annual Conference!
